5 Simple Weight Loss Strategies - Why Be Fat When It's So Easy To Be Thin And Happy?
"What fits better into your day, 1 hour of exercise or 24 hours of being fat?"
I don't think I have ever met anyone who enjoys being overweight, or who would prefer to be overweight. I know I certainly didn't. Even though it is something that is completely under our control, why do we put ourselves through the pain of living like that every single day? Being in a body you don't want to be in, having it negatively affect almost all the aspects of your life, and your overall health? When you really break it down, it takes very little to be in good shape. It doesn't even take an hour a day that's an overstatement. Simply 30-40 minutes of exercise 3-5 times per week will keep your body in great condition. What that actually means is that out of the 168 hours in a week, minus the 50 or so that you are sleeping, you would really only need to be exercising for 2 of those 118 hours. Less than 2% of your waking hours spent doing some form of physical activity and you could be in great physical condition right now! Shocking, isn't it? I know you are the busiest person in the world, and you don't even have 2% of your waking hours to exercise. Well, here is something to think about. Exercise has been proven to be one of the biggest secrets to ultra productivity. Flip your thinking and realize that part of the reason you feel as though you are so busy and tired could be because your body is not in a peak state, and is potentially lacking the productive energy it takes to get all of the things you need to get done in a day. Exercise will bring clarity to your mind and energy to your body. I guarantee that if you make the time to work out, you will start feeling far less busy and disorganized almost immediately.
Below, I have included 5 simple ideas that will help you reach your fitness goals much faster:
Weight Loss Strategies 1 : Find Your Health & Fitness Mentor Or A Personal Trainer.
Search for stories, videos and online mentors that have been in your exact shoes and use their weight loss story for inspiration. There is so much information available regarding health and fitness these days that in all honesty it is overwhelming. There are tons of buff dudes and rock hard ladies offering their advice on what you should and shouldn't do, and you don't have to look too hard to find contradictory information, which becomes very confusing. One person says its okay to work your abs every day, and then the next says working your abs every day will make them shrink!?? The reason for this is people are generally giving advice on what works best for them and what made them successful. My recommendation is to find either someone you know or someone online who has been in a very similar situation weight wise as you are, and listen to their advice on how they reached their goals and what obstacles they overcame. For example, if you are 100 pounds overweight, it may not be the best idea to take advice from the guy or gal who has 2% body fat and has been shredded their entire life. Find someone who was significantly overweight and lost it all. Their weight-loss stories and ideas may be easier for you to relate to and give you extra motivation to help you press on in times of weakness. I'm not saying the information from people that have been ripped their whole lives is bad or incorrect; I'm just saying it may be more emotionally compelling for you to follow advice from someone who has walked in your shoes.
Weight Loss Strategies 2 : Make Sure You Have a Well-rounded Workout Routine.
Ensure you have a well-rounded workout routine. This is kind of two tips in one, but to start with, make sure you have a well-rounded workout routine. What I mean by this is make sure in a given week you are working out every muscle group on your body. That means your legs, arms, abs, chest, back, triceps, biceps etc. You get the idea. The reason for this is just like all productive habits help each other grow, so does different work out routines. For example when you are doing squats (working your legs), this will significantly help to reduce belly fat. Actually more so than doing crunches. Make sure you are getting in every muscle group and giving them all the same amount of attention, as this will help your body look its absolute best and ensure they all work together in harmony to build you the body you really want. The next part is making sure you get out a few times a week and raise your heart rate and challenge your lungs. This doesn't necessarily mean running on the treadmill (although there is nothing wrong with that); it could be anything of your choice. Whether it is high interval training, a pickup game of basketball or tennis, kayaking etc. Just make sure you get that heart rate up! This will help keep you lean and also allow your body to reap the laundry list of health benefits cardiovascular exercise provides the body.
Weight Loss Strategies 3 : Eat Healthy. Healthy Eating is A Habit.
Eat out less. I love going out to eat and enjoy the dining experience in general; however, if you do it too often this will hinder your progress. So stop being a little baby about this one. Although there are many healthy options these days when you eat out, you can't control how the food is cooked or what is actually going into it. Although it may be a healthier alternative, the extra salt, sauces, and other ingredients potentially added to your food in restaurants really ramp up the calorie consumption. They best way to control what you put in your mouth is preparing food yourself. Now, go out and have some fun, but eat as many of your own meals as possible. This will help you reach your weight goals faster. Remember, one bad meal won't make you fat, and one healthy meal won't make you thin.
Weight Loss Strategies 4 : Consistency Is The Key To Success.
Similar to pretty much anything else you want to achieve in life, consistency on the fundamentals is king. This is absolutely true when it comes to fitness and healthy eating. You must be consistent, or you will drive yourself crazy. If you are having issues with this, refer to my "Stop trying, just be" concept as well as "You are what you consistently do not what you do everyone once in a while." Make eating healthy and exercising part of who you are, and your lifestyle (and you) will get to your desired weight and fitness goals much faster. Going through fluctuations can be such a nightmare, and gives you the illusion that being healthy is almost impossible, when in reality it is pretty simple. Make a plan, stick to it, and enjoy your reward. Don't, and I guess your only option is to find a way to love the body you are currently in.
Weight Loss Strategies 5 : Drink More Water Every Day.
Drink a ton of water. I know we have all heard this way too many times, but when choosing the 5th point, I realized this one is actually too important to exclude. Drink lots and lots of water. Not just a glass in the morning and once for lunch. Drink water constantly throughout the day. This keeps your energy levels up, metabolism high, hunger down; helps flush out toxins and keeps your skin looking clear, just to name a few benefits. It is imperative that you drink lots of water. If you really want to take your health to the next level, just step up and cut out all sodas and high sugar fruit juices from your diet and just drink water. You are basically just drinking empty calories and rotting your teeth, which is not a good combo and in no way is it conducive to losing weight and being healthy. Once you do this, after a while you will find it very hard to even drink a soda and you will never want to drink one again.
